So I made a movie preview for the story from project 4. I kinda wanted to make it have an eighties feel to it. I remember seeing on tv where they didn't use video as much but still pictures. I didn't take the pictures myself as it was really hard to get everyone together to dress up and take pictures etc. etc. Another reason why I steered away from video, with work and my other classes I had no time. So I tried to make best with what I had. With the help of my roommate we used audacity to record news reports which actually told more of the story, they would have played along with the music and pictures. Unfortunately after downloading the plug in to export from audacity and recording it refused to export the recordings. I am not sure what happened but I think my computer was on the verge of collapse, I may have a virus, or some technical problem happened that I have no idea how to diagnose let alone fix. So there goes the real time part of my project out the window, I know my grade will be hurt by it. I tried.
I picked the music to add a little mystery and intensity to it. I do like how the preview doesn't tell you too much information it's mysterious kind of like the plot. I like the pictures I found, they really match the characters. Overall I am happy with the preview but it would have been sooooo much better with the news reports playing in the background. I had fun and I know my grade will suffer as I didn't completely meet the requirements.

And more project 5 thoughts.
So I think I may have a workable idea for project 5. I want to take my story from project 4 and make a movie trailer out of it. I would use windows movie maker and audacity. I may borrow a video camera and take video myself or borrow videos from online but definitely make voice recording for it. It pulls on the every day as we all see tons of movie previews every time we watch television and most of us watch movies regularly. I hope this fits the requirements because I am kinda excited about making it.
If there are any ideas how to expand on this or programs/sites that would be helpful please let me know.

More thoughts on project #5
So I'm still not sure where I am going to go for project 5. I think it's just going to take a little brain storming as I think I understand what the requirements are now. I'll probably(hopefully) figure things out over thanksgiving break and get it started. I think it will be a fun project once I figure out what I am going to do. I guess we'll see how it goes...
Blogs
I honestly rarely read blogs. It usually is the effect of boredom, mostly when looking on myspace. I think they are so important today because people can reach a much broader audience with their writing. They can keep it more private and only let certain people obtain it or they can make it public. Their feelings, art, or general thoughts can be posted and responded to; I think this gives some people a therapautic effect as they can get things off their chest.
I think blogs are very cooperative. The writer has to make it public, readers have to actually read it, and they have to leave the comments if permitted.

Beginning thoughts on project 5
I am honestly really lost on what to do for project 5. The only idea I have come up with is a little rough and I don't know where to take it. I think I might want to use google maps and somehow make a game with it but I really have no clue how to start or where to take it. Any ideas would be helpful. I guess I'll collaborate with other people to make it more in depth...but I don't know because I don't know what I'm doing yet. I guess it will come to me and unfold itself I just hope it does soon.

Project #4 metatext
So I changed what I was going to do a little. Instead of having everyone write just a sentence using each word I really wanted it to morph into a narrative. So I set up the scene for everyone(five friends) and issued everyone a character. They had to write me their alibi. With each character I had 4-5 items from my list that I wrote for response #6 and they had to incorporate each into the story. I didn't let any one see each others alibi as I wanted it to be a surprise who actually did it. I really pushed for them to write whatever came to their head and I just kinda hoped that it all worked out in the end.
All of the characters turned out to be very crooked except sticky. With the friend I had playing his character I figured he wouldn't be very scandalous and I think it adds to the overall balance of the story. I'm happy with what everyone gave me and I did only minor editing as they all understood what was going on pretty well which is what I had hoped for. Noone minded helping me with this and they all though it was actually fun, I guess because they were open to basically write whatever they wanted and they were all anonymous except to me. Everyone played and added to the scandals really well which made it more interesting and worked well with the end result I wanted.
In the end I didn't reveal who actually did it as I would like the reader to guess themselves. My guess would be that it was Karen who actually thought Boris was Karl as she caught Mimi making out with him after work. Mimi was having an affair with Boris as he was hoping to marry her to become a citizen. This works as Mimi and Karl's alibis don't completely match up at the end and Karen was at the bar until closing as well. Jerry is just a generally shady guy and Karl and Sticky have solid alibis. I'd like to see what other people would conclude. I think this could make a pretty humorous movie that could be based around everyone's alibis, I feel like I've watched one like this already but I can't think of what it is. Overall this was a fun project and I'm happy with the results.
